Microsoft is suing Datel, saying the U.K. company copied its design for the Xbox controller.
Apr 5th

The Xbox controller made by Microsoft is in the middle. The Datel controllers for Xbox are on the top and bottom.
Microsoft are suiing them for what the software giant say is an infringement by the UK-based company of a number of patents that it holds.
Microsoft also claims that the devices sold by Datel are clones of the official Xbox 360 peripherals marketed by Microsoft. The latter is seeking undisclosed amount of financial damages.
Many are wondering if this is just “tit for tat” action from Microsoft afer Datel, the manufacturer of after-market peripherals for the Xbox 360, is taking Microsoft to court after the last update to the console rendered Datel’s cards useless.
The company claims Microsoft’s update was designed to prevent the memory cards from working with the Xbox 360. “The dashboard update is intended to, and does in fact, disable Datel’s memory cards,” says Datel in its lawsuit.

Microsoft to add USB memory support for the Xbox
Mar 27th
Microsoft’s Larry Nelson Hryb, the director of programming for Xbox Live, has confirmed that the company is going to introduce USB storage for its Xbox 360 on April 6.
The move will enable gamers to add 32GB of external memory via USB ports on the Xbox 360 consoles. However, to achieve this, gamers will have to attach two separate drives of 16GB each.
The development will allow Xbox 360 players to download, save and install games to third-party flash drives. It will also allow them to back-up their profiles, game saves, demos and the like.
The announcement marks the end of company’s external memory unit business.
